Short answer

Deel lets contractors in India withdraw their balance by bank transfer in rupees, a SWIFT transfer in US dollars to an Indian bank, PayPal, Payoneer or Wise, depending on the options Deel shows for India in the app. The marketplace does not publish full fees for its withdrawal methods, so no payout is calculated.

Who this is for: This page is for Indian freelancers and independent contractors paid by foreign clients through Deel contractor contracts who want to move their Deel balance into an Indian bank account, whether or not they are registered for GST.

What withdrawal methods does Deel support for India?

How does each Deel withdrawal method work?

How does Bank transfer in INR (local bank transfer) work for Deel payouts?

You add a bank transfer method under Finance > Withdrawal methods, follow Deel's on-screen prompts for India and INR, and enter details for an account in your own name. Deel converts your balance and pays rupees into the account.

  • Pros: No Deel withdrawal fee; Arrives in rupees, so your bank does not convert it again; Deel can issue a NOC for your bank to issue a FIRC
  • Cons: Exchange rate margin is not published; The NOC must be requested when the method is added; IndusInd Bank may ask for your contract and invoices before crediting
  • Cost: $0 USD Deel fee for local bank transfers, though a separate provider fee may apply in some currencies, per Deel withdrawal fees. Your bank may charge its own fees.
  • Time: Shown as a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker. Banks do not process on weekends and public holidays. IndusInd Bank may add about 10 business days for document checks.
  • FIRA: Request a NOC from Deel when you add the bank transfer method. Your bank uses it to issue the FIRC.
  • Ideal for: Contractors who want rupees in their bank account each pay cycle with no Deel withdrawal fee.

How does SWIFT transfer in USD to an Indian bank work for Deel payouts?

You choose USD as the withdrawal currency for your Indian bank account. Deel sends USD over SWIFT, and your bank credits or converts it.

  • Pros: Your own bank sets the conversion rate; Deel gives a UETR code to trace the payment; No Deel conversion when your contract is in USD
  • Cons: Intermediary banks may deduct unpredictable fees; $100 USD minimum per withdrawal; Your bank may refuse or convert funds if the currency does not match the account
  • Cost: A variable fee starting at $5 USD and capped at $10 USD, plus any intermediary bank charges, per Deel withdrawal fees.
  • Time: Shown as a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker. Holidays in India or an intermediary bank's country can add one or two business days.
  • FIRA: Your receiving Indian bank issues the FIRC. Deel's NOC process refers to the bank transfer method and does not say whether it covers USD SWIFT withdrawals, so confirm with Deel support when you add the method.
  • Ideal for: Contractors withdrawing larger sums who have a forex rate arrangement with their bank.

How does PayPal work for Deel payouts?

You add PayPal as a withdrawal method. The email on the PayPal account must match your Deel profile email.

  • Pros: Useful as a second withdrawal method; Low $5 USD minimum; Deel lists it as a non-bank option if bank screening delays a transfer
  • Cons: 2.5 percent fee on every withdrawal; PayPal's own conversion and fees apply; No Deel NOC for a FIRC
  • Cost: 2.5 percent, with a minimum fee of $0.25 USD, per Deel withdrawal fees. PayPal may add its own charges.
  • Time: Shown as a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker. PayPal then moves funds to your bank.
  • FIRA: Deel cannot provide a NOC for PayPal withdrawals. Ask PayPal and your bank for the inward remittance record.
  • Ideal for: Contractors who want a backup method alongside a bank account.

How does Payoneer work for Deel payouts?

You add your Payoneer account as a withdrawal method in Deel, then withdraw from Payoneer to your Indian bank.

  • Pros: Keeps Deel income with other Payoneer receipts; Fee works out to 1 percent on withdrawals above $1,200 USD; Listed by Deel as a non-bank option
  • Cons: $12 USD minimum fee; $50 USD minimum withdrawal; Two sets of fees, Deel's and Payoneer's
  • Cost: 1 percent, with a minimum fee of $12 USD, per Deel withdrawal fees. Payoneer may add its own charges.
  • Time: Shown as a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker. Payoneer then moves funds to your bank.
  • FIRA: Deel cannot provide a NOC for Payoneer withdrawals. Ask Payoneer what record it supplies.
  • Ideal for: Contractors who manage income from several platforms in one Payoneer account.

How does Wise work for Deel payouts?

You add your Wise account as a withdrawal method in Deel, then move funds from Wise to your Indian bank.

  • Pros: No Deel withdrawal fee; Low $5 USD minimum; Listed by Deel as a non-bank option
  • Cons: Wise's own fees apply; No Deel NOC for a FIRC; Funds pass through a second provider before reaching India
  • Cost: $0 USD Deel fee, per Deel withdrawal fees. Wise charges its own fees.
  • Time: Shown as a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker. Wise then moves funds to your bank.
  • FIRA: Deel cannot provide a NOC for Wise withdrawals. Ask Wise what record it supplies.
  • Ideal for: Contractors who already use Wise for other foreign receipts.

How do you set up Deel withdrawals to India?

  1. Create a Deel account as a contractor and choose I'm an Individual or I'm set up via an entity, per Deel contractor sign-up.
  2. Verify your identity with a selfie and a government-issued photo ID. Deel says you cannot withdraw until this is done, per Deel account verification.
  3. Review and sign the contract your client sends. The contract becomes active only after both sides sign.
  4. If your client is in the US, complete Form W-8BEN as an individual or sole proprietor, or W-8BEN-E for a company, under Finance > Tax Documents.
  5. Go to Finance > Withdrawal methods and select Add method. Follow the on-screen prompts for India and choose INR or USD where Deel offers it. Deel says not all withdrawal methods are available in all jurisdictions.
  6. Enter bank details for an account in your own name, with the same billing address as your Deel profile. Request a NOC at this step if your bank needs one for a FIRC.
  7. Optionally set up automatic withdrawal and choose what percentage of each payment goes to each method.
  8. When your balance updates, select Move money, check the estimate of fees and exchange rate, and confirm. Then download the NOC from the withdrawal's details and send it to your bank.

How much INR do you receive on $2,000, $5,000 and $10,000 from Deel?

Deel does not publish full fees for its withdrawal methods, so INR amounts are not calculated. The methods table above lists every fee it does publish.

What fees does Deel charge before you withdraw?

Deel does not charge contractors a commission or monthly subscription. It charges clients US$49 per active contract each month, per How Much Does Deel Cost. Deel may charge up to $5 for a contract active with no payments for two months. For example, on a USD contract a $1,000 USD invoice adds $1,000 to your Deel balance before withdrawal fees.

What tax forms and TDS apply to Deel earnings?

Deel asks contractors with US clients to complete Form W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E through its tax documents flow. Deel's help centre does not describe deducting Indian TDS from contractor payouts. Deel charges contractors no commission, and its pages do not say whether GST applies to withdrawal fees. As an Indian resident, you report Deel income in your Indian return.

  • W-8BEN: Deel says a sole proprietor in India files Form W-8BEN, and a limited company files W-8BEN-E, in its W-8BEN guide. The IRS says a foreign person gives Form W-8BEN to the payer when asked. Deel's treaty eligibility article explains how to name the treaty article and rate, and says Deel cannot give tax advice. See W-8BEN for Indian freelancers.
  • TDS: Deel's help articles on contractor withdrawals and fees do not mention Indian TDS on payouts. Check the tax credit statement on the income tax e-filing portal to see whether any tax was deducted against your PAN. See TDS on marketplace payouts.
  • GST on fees: Deel charges contractors no subscription or commission, per Deel pricing help. The charges you see are withdrawal fees by method. Deel's pages do not say whether GST is added to them. Only clients can add sales tax such as GST to a Deel invoice, per Deel sales tax help.
  • GST on exports: Your service to a client outside India is an export when the five conditions in IGST Act section 2(6) are met, and exports are zero-rated under section 16. Registered contractors file an LUT in Form GST RFD-11 under CGST Rule 96A. See LUT filing.
  • Income tax: The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the 1961 Act from 1 April 2026. The presumptive scheme for professionals under old section 44ADA now sits in section 58 of the 2025 Act. See section 44ADA for freelancers.

Do Deel payouts give you FIRA, and what purpose code applies?

  • Bank transfer NOC: Deel does not issue the FIRC. Per Deel failed or delayed withdrawals, you ask for a NOC when you add the bank transfer method, then download it from the withdrawal's details within several business days. Your bank uses it to issue the FIRC and creates an IRM number in EDPMS. Deel cannot issue a NOC later or for other methods.
  • Other methods: For PayPal, Payoneer and Wise, ask that provider and your bank for the inward remittance record. Deel says it will not cover fees for a FIRC from other providers. FIRA is a term used by banks and platforms and is not defined in the FEMA regulations. See FIRC vs FIRA vs e-BRC.
  • Purpose code: Deel says INR withdrawals to IndusInd Bank are sent as "Software consultancy/implementation (other than those covered in SOFTEX form)", per its IndusInd withdrawal article. That is the description of P0802 in the RBI purpose code list. If your work is different, such as P1006 "Business and management consultancy and public relations services", ask your AD bank. See P0802 purpose code.
  • EDF: Under Regulation 3 of the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026, in force from 1 October 2026, a services exporter files an EDF within 30 days of the end of the month in which the invoice was raised, and software counts as services. The SOFTEX circulars were superseded from the same date by A.P. (DIR Series) Circular No. 20. Realisation is due within nine months, or twelve if invoiced in INR, per the 22 September 2026 amendment. See EDF form for exports.

Why do Deel withdrawals to India fail or get held?

  • Payout on hold: Your bank may hold a withdrawal for a Request for Information, for example over unusual activity or an address or name mismatch, per Deel additional screening. Deel cannot control its timing. If the bank does not credit you, Deel can recall the payment after the RFI ends, which takes at least five business days. Large withdrawals may also face a compliance review of up to five days.
  • Name mismatch: The recipient's full name on the withdrawal method must match your Deel profile name, and the billing address must match the bank account's address, per Deel withdrawal guide. Update your profile or add a method in your own name before withdrawing.
  • Returned transfer: A withdrawal fails if bank details are wrong, the account is closed or the bank rejects it. Deel puts the money back in your balance three to five business days after the failure, per Deel withdrawal FAQs. Correct the details or choose another method, then withdraw again.
  • IndusInd checks: IndusInd Bank may ask for your contract and invoices before crediting an INR withdrawal, which can add about 10 business days, per Deel IndusInd article. Send the documents quickly and do not describe the payment as salary.
  • Missed ETA: If the estimated date passes, check your account details, download the withdrawal statement and give your bank the Trace ID or UETR. You can report it from Finance > Transactions > Report an issue, per Deel delayed withdrawals. Keep a bank statement covering the withdrawal dates.

Your own bank or provider may add charges.

Can Deel pay contractors in India in Indian rupees?

If your contract is in USD and you withdraw in INR, Deel converts it and shows an estimate of the rate and fees before you confirm. Rates can change before the money arrives.

How do you get a FIRC for Deel withdrawals to an Indian bank?

Ask Deel for a NOC when you add your bank transfer withdrawal method. Download the NOC from the withdrawal's details in Transactions and send it to your bank, which issues the FIRC. Deel cannot provide a NOC if you did not request it at setup or used PayPal, Payoneer or Wise.

Which purpose code matches Deel INR withdrawals to IndusInd Bank?

Deel says INR withdrawals to IndusInd Bank are sent as "Software consultancy/implementation (other than those covered in SOFTEX form)". That description matches purpose code P0802 in the RBI list. Is Deel Instant Card Transfer available for contractors in India?

Do Indian contractors need to fill Form W-8BEN on Deel?

How long does a Deel withdrawal take to reach an Indian bank?

Deel shows a Dynamic ETA in the Withdrawal Tracker, based on currency and method, per Deel withdrawal timing. Funds may take one or two extra business days due to bank processing or holidays. INR withdrawals to IndusInd Bank can take about 10 more business days if the bank asks for documents.

Can you keep money in your Deel balance before withdrawing to India?
