How do you set up Envato withdrawals to India?

  1. Confirm you are an approved author. Envato has paused new author applications until further notice, so new sellers cannot join at present.
  2. Complete the four onboarding steps in your Author Profile: tax information, payout details, trader declaration and the ID check.
  3. Open Tax Information in Author Home, select Complete a Tax Form and fill in Form W-8BEN as an individual, or W-8BEN-E for a company.
  4. Enter your PAN in the Foreign TIN (FTIN) field, not the US TIN field, so the India treaty rate can apply.
  5. Open Payout Method and fill in General Information with your legal name and full address, without a bank branch address.
  6. Choose Bank Transfer for an Indian bank account or a provider such as Payoneer, or choose PayPal and enter its email address.
  7. Check that the account holder name and address match your Envato account, since Envato does not pay a third party.
  8. Save or change payout details before the 8th of the month so the payout on the 15th uses them.

How much INR do you receive on $2,000, $5,000 and $10,000 from Envato?

Envato does not publish full fees for its withdrawal methods, so INR amounts are not calculated. The methods table above lists every fee it does publish.

What fees does Envato charge before you withdraw?

Envato charges authors an Author fee of 50 percent of the item price on Envato Market, per Introduction to Earnings. Buyers pay a separate buyer fee. Elements authors receive a share of 50 percent of net base subscription revenue, or 25 percent for Enterprise. For example, a $20 item price earns the author $10 before US withholding tax.

What tax forms and TDS apply to Envato earnings?

Every Envato author must submit a valid US tax form, and Envato cannot pay you without one. Indian individuals complete Form W-8BEN in Author Home. Envato withholds US royalty tax only on sales to US buyers, at the India treaty rate of 15 percent, per Envato US Tax Treaties. Without a valid form, 30 percent may apply.

  • W-8BEN: Non-US individuals complete Form W-8BEN and companies complete W-8BEN-E, per Envato W8 tax requirements. Without a foreign tax number, Envato cannot apply the treaty rate.   • US withholding: Envato applies US royalty withholding tax to earnings from US buyers on Market and US subscribers on Elements, per Envato withholding taxes. Since September 2026 payouts, Envato deducts it when it pays you, per Envato tax changes July 2026. It issues Form 1042 by 15 March each year.
  • Tax credit: Envato says you may be able to claim foreign tax credit for US tax withheld against the tax due in your own country, and suggests giving Form 1042 to your adviser, per Envato Tax Forms 1099 and 1042 FAQs. See foreign tax credit and Form 67.
  • TDS: Envato's help pages describe US royalty withholding and do not describe Indian TDS on author payouts. Envato states it is part of the Shutterstock group, and its US entity pays authors, per Envato Tax FAQs. See TDS on marketplace payouts.
  • GST on fees: Envato adds tax to Author fees only where the author's billing address is in Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Türkiye, Chile, Georgia or Indonesia, per Envato global tax collection. India is not on that list. Ask a GST adviser whether you owe GST on the Author fee under reverse charge.
  • GST on exports: A service to a recipient outside India is an export when the conditions in IGST Act section 2(6) are met, and exports are zero-rated under section 16. A registered author can export without paying IGST under an LUT filed under CGST Rule 96A. See LUT filing.
  • Income tax: Envato says authors manage tax on their earnings in their own country, per Envato Tax FAQs. The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the 1961 Act from 1 April 2026, and the presumptive schemes under old sections 44AD and 44ADA now sit in section 58. Do Envato payouts give you FIRA, and what purpose code applies?

  • FIRA: Envato says it cannot provide FIRC documents and that authors should ask their receiving bank, which may not issue one for every currency transfer, per Getting Started with the Envato Payout System. FIRA is a term used by banks and platforms and is not defined in the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026. See FIRC vs FIRA vs e-BRC.
  • By method: A direct bank transfer reaches your Indian bank as an inward remittance, so ask your AD bank what remittance advice or certificate it issues. For PayPal and providers such as Payoneer, the record depends on the provider and the bank that receives its transfer. Envato advises checking FIRC availability before you choose your payout currency.
  • Purpose code: Envato does not publish a purpose code for author payouts, so your AD bank records one when it credits the money. The RBI purpose code list describes P0807 as "Off site software exports" and P1099 as "Other services not included elsewhere". Ask your bank which code fits themes, code, graphics or stock media.   • EDF: Under Regulation 3 of the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026, services exporters file an EDF within 30 days from the end of the invoice month. It replaced SOFTEX from 1 October 2026 per A.P. (DIR Series) Circular No. 20. Regulation 5, as amended on 22 September 2026, sets nine months from the invoice date for realising services exports. Why do Envato withdrawals to India fail or get held?

  • Tax form voided: From September 2026, Envato needs an active, validated tax form to process payouts, and expired or unverified forms show as Voided, per Envato tax form troubleshooting. A PAN typed into the US TIN box fails IRS validation. Resubmit with the PAN in the Foreign TIN field.
  • Below minimum: Envato pays only once your balance reaches $50, counted before royalty withholding tax, per Getting Started with the Envato Payout System. Smaller balances stay in your Balance Dashboard and roll into the next month. Payout details saved after the 8th apply from the following month.
  • Name mismatch: Envato says the account holder name and address must match your payout account and your Envato account, and payments to another person are not allowed, per Getting Started with the Envato Payout System. Use an account in your own name, or in your company's name if the tax form is for the company.
  • Wrong country: Envato asks you to enter the country where the bank account is held. For Payoneer or another provider's US receiving account, select United States of America, not India, and copy the routing and account numbers exactly, per Setting Your Elements Payout Method.
  • Not received: Envato emails an estimated arrival date when it sends a payout. If the money has not arrived three business days after that date, Envato asks you to contact Author Support, per Envato Market Earnings FAQs. Check your details first. See why banks return inward remittances.
