Short answer

Google Play pays Indian developers once a month by wire transfer to a bank account in India, linked through the Play Console payments profile. BillDesk, Google's processor under RBI's PA-CB rules, also requires each developer to complete its KYC. The marketplace does not publish full fees for its withdrawal methods, so no payout is calculated.

Who this is for: This page is for Indian app and game developers, both individuals and registered businesses, who sell paid apps, in-app products or subscriptions on Google Play and want those earnings paid into an Indian bank account.

What withdrawal methods does Google Play Console support for India?

How does each Google Play Console withdrawal method work?

How does Google Play monthly payout to an Indian bank account work for Google Play Console payouts?

You create a payments profile in Play Console, add a bank account in your own name that can receive wire transfers, and verify it. Google lists India among locations paid by wire from the United States, per Google Play bank account help. You also complete KYC with BillDesk, which then manages your bank account details, per Google payments help for India.

  • Pros: Payouts run automatically each month once your balance reaches the minimum; Google deducts Indian withholding tax and issues Form 131 certificates each quarter; A FIRC can be requested for payouts through BillDesk and Citibank
  • Cons: Payouts arrive only once a month, around the 15th; Google does not publish the exchange rate used to convert payouts to rupees; New merchants cannot sell to users outside India until BillDesk verification is complete
  • Cost: Google's payout help pages do not list a payout fee charged by Google. For wire payouts, Google says your bank sets the receiving fee, which may range from US$0 to US$50 or more, per Google Play wire transfer help. Ask your bank for its inward remittance charges.
  • Time: Earnings from the 1st to the end of a month are paid out around the 15th of the following month, per Google Play payout help. Google does not start deposits on weekends or bank holidays, and your bank may take several more days to credit the funds.
  • FIRA: Google says FIRC requests are handled by BillDesk and issued by Citibank, which mails a copy to you, per Google payments help for India. Submit the request to Google first and allow extra time.
  • Ideal for: Indian developers who sell through Google Play's billing system and want app and in-app earnings paid into an Indian bank account.

How do you set up Google Play Console withdrawals to India?

  1. Create a Play Console developer account and pay the one-time US$25 registration fee, per Get started with Play Console.
  2. Choose a personal or organisation account. Organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number, and the payments profile name and address must match the Dun & Bradstreet profile, per Play Console account requirements.
  3. Create a payments profile in Play Console with your legal name and physical address in India. India uses INR as the developer default currency, per Google Play supported locations.
  4. Add your PAN under India tax info so Google deducts withholding tax at 0.1 percent instead of 5 percent, per Google Play withholding tax help.
  5. Add your GSTIN, India business address and state under India tax info if you are registered for GST, per Google payments help for India.
  6. Submit Form W-8BEN from your payments profile, which Google requires from merchants outside the US, per Google Play merchant tax help.
  7. Add a bank account in the exact name on your bank statement, with its SWIFT-BIC code, and verify it, per Google Play bank account help.
  8. Complete BillDesk KYC from the verification banner in Play Console. New merchants must finish it before selling to users outside India, per Google payments help for India.

How much INR do you receive on $2,000, $5,000 and $10,000 from Google Play Console?

Google Play Console does not publish full fees for its withdrawal methods, so INR amounts are not calculated. The methods table above lists every fee it does publish.

What fees does Google Play Console charge before you withdraw?

Google Play charges a service fee on app and in-app sales. For India and other remaining markets, its service fees page sets 15 percent on the first US$1 million of yearly earnings in the 15 percent tier and on subscriptions. For example, a US$10 sale leaves US$8.50 before tax deductions. Newer fee models apply elsewhere.

What tax forms and TDS apply to Google Play Console earnings?

Google Play asks Indian developers for three tax details. You submit Form W-8BEN from the payments profile and add your PAN for Indian withholding tax. You also add a GSTIN if registered. Google deducts 0.1 percent withholding tax with a PAN, or 5 percent without one, per Google Play withholding tax help.

  • W-8BEN: Google says merchants based outside the US must submit the Certificate of Foreign Status (Form W-8BEN) from their payments profile, per Google payments FAQ. The IRS says a foreign person gives Form W-8BEN when the payer asks. Non-US merchants can request Form 1042-S year-end tax forms from Google. See W-8BEN for Indian freelancers.
  • TDS: Google deducts Indian withholding tax of 0.1 percent of the customer price, excluding GST, when you have given your PAN, and 5 percent when you have not, per Google Play withholding tax help. Google issues Form 131 certificates each quarter for India-based merchant accounts. See TDS on marketplace payouts.
  • GST on fees: Google says developers in India must determine and pay any applicable tax on the service fees Google charges them, per Google Play tax rates help. Google also says it deducts GST TCS, if any, on paid apps and in-app purchases you sell. Check your earnings reports for these lines.
  • GST on sales: Google says India-based developers must work out their own GST on sales to customers in India, per Google payments help for India. A service to a buyer outside India is an export when the conditions in IGST Act section 2(6) are met, and exports are zero-rated under section 16. Registered developers can file an LUT under CGST Rule 96A. See LUT filing.
  • Income tax: Google Play earnings are taxed in India. The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the 1961 Act from 1 April 2026, and the presumptive schemes under old sections 44AD and 44ADA now sit in section 58. Ask a tax adviser whether section 58 fits your app income. See 44AD vs 44ADA.

Do Google Play Console payouts give you FIRA, and what purpose code applies?

Why do Google Play Console withdrawals to India fail or get held?

  • Sales paused: Existing merchants who do not finish BillDesk verification by 15 March 2027 will have sales to users outside India paused, per Google payments help for India. New merchants cannot sell abroad until they verify. Look for an email from BillDesk or start verification from the banner in Play Console.
  • Below minimum: No payout is sent if your earned balance is under the US$100 wire minimum, per Google Play payout help. The balance carries forward. Payouts may also take up to 5 business days, or longer in some countries, to settle, per Google payments FAQ.
  • Name mismatch: A test deposit can fail if the account holder name is not exactly the same as on the bank account, or if the bank is in a different country from the payments profile, per Google payments FAQ. Re-enter the details exactly as your bank shows them.
  • Unverified bank: Google requires developers using its billing system to verify their payment method before receiving payouts, through a test deposit or official bank documents, per Play Console account requirements. Verification can take up to 5 days, so start early.
  • Wire rejected: Google says international wires are complex and asks Indian merchants to work with their bank to find the correct details, such as the SWIFT-BIC and any intermediary bank instructions, per Google Play bank account help. Ask your bank for its inward SWIFT instructions before adding the account.
