Patreon lets creators in India withdraw by bank transfer processed by Payoneer, which pays rupees into an Indian bank account, by PayPal, or to a Payoneer Wallet. Of the methods with published fees, Bank transfer (processed by Payoneer), USD to INR leaves the most INR on a $5,000 withdrawal: about ₹4,66,908.
| Method | Fee | Time | FIRA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer (processed by Payoneer), USD to INR | $0.25 plus a 1.55% currency conversion fee per payout, per Patreon's payouts guide for creators outside the US. Patreon says this fee includes any currency conversion. | Payouts typically take 1 to 5 days to appear, per How payouts work. A transfer can take up to 10 business days while Patreon runs checks on accounts with high volume. | Patreon's help pages do not mention a FIRA. The rupee credit lands in your Indian bank, so ask your bank for its inward remittance advice or certificate. |
| PayPal | 1% of the amount transferred, with a minimum of $0.25 and a cap of $20, for non-US creators paid in USD, per the payouts guide. PayPal may add its own fees when you move money from PayPal to your bank. | Typically 1 to 5 days to reach your PayPal account. PayPal then moves the funds to your bank on its own timeline. | Patreon's help pages do not mention a FIRA for PayPal payouts. Ask PayPal and your Indian bank for the inward remittance record. |
| Payoneer Wallet | $1 per payout to your Payoneer account, per the payouts guide. The Patreon Payoneer FAQs say Payoneer also charges a currency conversion fee that varies by country, and it may charge to move funds to your bank. | Typically 1 to 5 days to reach Payoneer. Patreon's Payoneer FAQs say a payout to a linked bank account can take up to 5 business days. | Not covered on Patreon's pages. Ask Payoneer and your Indian bank for the inward remittance record. |
| USD bank transfer to a US bank account | $0.50 per payout, per the payouts guide. | Typically 1 to 5 days. Patreon sends the funds by ACH transfer. | Not applicable at payout, because the money lands outside India. - Cons: Two sets of fees can apply, Patreon's and PayPal's; The exchange rate is not published on Patreon's pages; Patreon warns that a small typo in the PayPal email can send funds to a non-existent account
- Cost: 1% of the amount transferred, with a minimum of $0.25 and a cap of $20, for non-US creators paid in USD, per the payouts guide. PayPal may add its own fees when you move money from PayPal to your bank.

- Pros: Flat $0.50 Patreon fee per payout; No conversion at payout; Keeps the balance in USD

- Ideal for: Creators who need USD outside India for US expenses and accept a second transfer to bring money home.
How do you set up Patreon withdrawals to India?
- Publish your creator page and choose your currency. INR is not on Patreon's supported currency list, so creators in India pick USD or another supported currency.
- Under Tax settings in your Patreon settings, fill out Form W-8BEN as an individual or Form W-8BEN-E as an entity. Patreon requires one before any payout.
- If you claim India and US treaty benefits on the form, name India as your country of residence on line 9, and confirm the claim with a tax adviser.
- In Settings, open Billing and payouts, click Add payout method, choose India as your payout country, say whether you are an individual or a business, and click Next.
- Choose bank transfer, PayPal or Payoneer Wallet. For bank transfer, enter your bank details using letters and numbers only, then complete the Payoneer form.
- Wait out the 5-day payout lock that starts whenever you add or edit a payout method, and complete identity verification if Patreon asks for it.
- In Creator Studio, open Payouts, click Withdraw, review the fee and net amount, and confirm. You can instead turn on auto-withdrawal, which runs on the 5th of each month.

| Bank transfer (processed by Payoneer), USD to INR, $10,000 | $9,000 | ₹8,40,453 | Creators in India who keep USD as their Patreon currency and want rupees in an Indian bank account. |
What fees does Patreon charge before you withdraw?
Patreon deducts a platform fee and payment processing fees before earnings reach your balance. Pages published after 4 August 2025 pay a standard 10 percent platform fee, per Creator fees overview. With a USD payout currency, card payments cost 2.9 percent plus $0.30. For example, a $10 card payment leaves $8.41 before any tax on fees and the payout fee.
What tax forms and TDS apply to Patreon earnings?
Patreon requires every creator who is not a US citizen to submit Form W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E before paying out, per Submitting a W-8BEN. Patreon says the form shows the IRS that Patreon earnings are not subject to US income tax. Patreon's help pages do not describe Indian TDS on creator payouts.
- W-8BEN: Individuals complete Form W-8BEN and entities complete W-8BEN-E electronically in the Tax settings section of Patreon's settings, per Submitting a W-8BEN. The IRS says a foreign person gives Form W-8BEN to the payer when asked. See W-8BEN for Indian freelancers.
- Treaty claim: Patreon's W-8BEN form asks whether you are claiming tax treaty benefits. If you answer yes, line 9 names the country where you are resident for treaty purposes. Check with a tax adviser before claiming India and US treaty benefits.
- TDS: Patreon's help pages describe US tax forms and do not describe Indian TDS on Patreon payouts. Indian income tax still applies to your earnings, so keep your payout records for your return. See TDS on marketplace payouts.
- GST on Patreon fees: Patreon may charge GST or VAT on its fees depending on your location and business status, per Taxes on creator fees. Outside the US, in most cases, it collects only where you do not give valid proof of business status, and shows the tax as a separate line. A VAT or GST ID goes on line 7 of the W-8BEN or line 9c of the W-8BEN-E, per Providing your VAT ID number.
- GST on member payments: Patreon's Sales Tax Requirements list India, with GST at 18 percent, among the countries where it collects tax on member payments. That tax is based on the member's location, so it applies to members in India.
- GST on exports: A service supplied to a recipient outside India is an export when the five conditions in IGST Act section 2(6) are met, and exports are zero-rated under section 16. A registered supplier can export without paying IGST under an LUT in Form GST RFD-11 under CGST Rule 96A. See GST on export of services.
- Income tax: The Income-tax Act, 2025 replaced the 1961 Act from 1 April 2026, and the presumptive schemes in old sections 44AD and 44ADA are now consolidated in section 58. Whether either scheme fits Patreon income depends on how the income is classified. See section 44ADA for freelancers.
Do Patreon payouts give you FIRA, and what purpose code applies?
- FIRA: Patreon's help pages do not mention a FIRA or FIRC for any payout method. For a bank transfer in rupees, your Indian bank issues the inward remittance advice or certificate. FIRA is a term used by banks and platforms and is not defined in the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026. See FIRC vs FIRA vs e-BRC.
- Patreon records: Patreon offers a monthly CSV of fees and earnings in the Documents section of Payouts, per Why is my payout less than I expected?. It also generates a Proof of Income letter on Patreon letterhead that summarises your earnings for a calendar year. Your bank may accept these as supporting records.
- Purpose code: Patreon does not publish a purpose code for payouts, so your AD bank records one when it credits the money. The RBI purpose code list describes P1099 as "Other services not included elsewhere". Ask your bank which code it applies. See purpose code for content creator income.
- EDF and realisation: Under Regulation 3 of the FEMA Export and Import Regulations, 2026, services exporters file an EDF within 30 days from the end of the invoice month from 1 October 2026, and A.P. (DIR Series) Circular No. 20 supersedes the earlier SOFTEX circulars from that date. Regulation 5, as amended on 22 September 2026, sets nine months for realisation. Ask your AD bank how it applies to Patreon payouts. See EDF form for exports.
Why do Patreon withdrawals to India fail or get held?
- Payout on hold: Patreon places a 5-day payout lock whenever you add or edit a payout method, per How payouts work. Identity verification also locks payouts until it is complete, and you have 60 days to finish it, per the Account Identity Verification FAQ. Wait for the lock to end, then withdraw manually.
- Details rejected: Special characters are not supported in bank details, per the payouts guide, so enter letters and numbers only. Your bank, Payoneer or PayPal account country must match the details you give Patreon. If a new bank transfer still fails after the 5-day hold, re-enter the details or contact Patreon.
- Returned transfer: A payout marked Returned on the Payouts dashboard did not go through, and the funds go back to your Patreon balance, per Where is my Payout?. Correct the payout method, wait for the 5-day lock to clear, and withdraw again.
- Wrong PayPal email: Patreon warns that the slightest typo in the PayPal email can send your balance to a non-existent account. Check the email under Billing and payouts, Payout method, correct any typo, and submit a request to Patreon support.
- Payoneer delay: If a Payoneer payout has not reached your bank after 5 business days, the Patreon Payoneer FAQs say to contact Payoneer. If a new Payoneer account has received nothing, check that Patreon is linked under Funding sources and that the Verification Center has no open requests, then contact Payoneer Customer Care.

Frequently asked questions
Can Patreon pay creators in India in Indian rupees?
Yes, through bank transfer processed by Payoneer. INR is not a Patreon creator currency, per supported currencies, but the payouts guide lists India for USD to local currency bank transfer. Patreon converts your USD balance and pays rupees for $0.25 plus 1.55 percent per payout, with a $10 minimum.
Does Patreon offer Stripe direct deposit to creators in India?
No. Patreon's Stripe direct deposit is available only to US creators, per Where is my Payout?. Creators in India use bank transfer processed by Payoneer, PayPal or Payoneer Wallet instead. They can also pay out USD to a US bank account by selecting the United States as their bank country.
How long does a Patreon payout take to reach a creator in India?
Once started, a Patreon payout typically takes 1 to 5 days to appear, per How payouts work. It can take up to 10 business days while Patreon runs checks on accounts with high volume. You can start one payout every 24 hours, and auto-withdrawal runs on the 5th of each month.
What is the minimum Patreon payout for a creator in India?
Patreon's payouts guide sets a $10 minimum for bank transfer from USD to local currency and for PayPal. Payoneer Wallet needs at least $25. Per Paying out your earnings, the Patreon mobile app also shows a minimum, which varies by method, currency and country, and mobile payouts must withdraw the full available balance.
Which Patreon platform fee applies to a creator in India?
Creators who published a Patreon page after 4 August 2025 pay the standard 10 percent platform fee, per Creator fees overview. Earlier creators keep a legacy plan of 5, 8 or 11 percent while the page stays continuously published. Unpublishing the page moves the creator to the 10 percent plan on republishing.
When does Patreon charge its 2.5 percent currency conversion fee?
Patreon charges 2.5 percent on any member payment made in a currency different from your payout currency, per Creator fees overview. The fee is calculated on the full payment, including tax, and refunded if the member is refunded. Since INR is not a payout currency, members paying USD avoid it when you choose USD.
Why do Patreon payments from members in India often decline?
Patreon's Member payments in India page says new Reserve Bank of India regulations have led to industry-wide declines of recurring payments. Patreon says it is working with payment partners on long-term solutions and cannot guarantee that recurring payments will be processed. This affects members paying from India, not payouts to creators.
Does Patreon issue an income certificate for creators in India?
Patreon issues a Proof of Income letter on its letterhead with your creator name, total earnings for a chosen calendar year and estimated monthly earnings. Generate it from Payouts, Documents, Proof of Income. Patreon does not describe a FIRC, so ask your Indian bank for the inward remittance record.
